SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" K. Glaudel of Silvis, who
4passed away on September 6, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Glaudel was born in Davenport, Iowa to Roy
6and Louise DeSmet Glaudel on March 21, 1927; he was stationed
7with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World
8War II; he returned home from the war in 1947 and married
9Marilyn Ikerd; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Glaudel worked 44 years at Desaulniers
11Printing Company, where he started in the offset department; he
12became plant superintendent and later purchasing manager,
13retiring in 1991; one of his most memorable assignments was
14traveling to Japan with his wife and management team; he later
15became a consultant for Silver Oaks in Moline, where he worked
16for 10 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Glaudel enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing,
18and traveling with his wife; he especially loved sharing
19stories about his time on a LST landing ship; and
 
20    WHEREAS, On November 8, 2012, Robert Glaudel joined other
21veterans on the Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities to Washington,

1D.C., sharing memories with other veterans and visiting the
2various monuments; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Robert Glaudel was preceded in death by his
4parents; his wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Sandy Hirstein; and
5his brother, LeRoy Glaudel; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Glaudel is survived by his daughter, Linda
7McGraw; his son-in-law, Dan Hirstein; his grandchildren,
8Jennifer (Steve) Hughes, Christopher (Katie) McGraw, Kate
9(Brian) Frank, and Kimberley (Nick) Lesniak; and his
10great-grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Hughes, Joseph, Jameson,
11Madeline, and Matthew McGraw, Ava and Cole Frank, and Audrey,
12Elle, and Olivia Lesniak; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Robert "Bob" K. Glaudel, and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Robert Glaudel as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
