SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arnold "Arnie" Norman of Erie, who passed
4away on August 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman was born on March 21, 1932 in Newton
6Township; his parents were Albert and Kate Blink Norman; he
7married Adalene Heun on September 9, 1954 at Newton Zion
8Reformed Church; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman attended Anglese Grade School and
10graduated from Erie High School in 1949; after graduation, he
11enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean
12War; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman was a lifelong farmer; he and his
14wife raised their family on the same farm where he had lived
15since the age of six months; he loved farming and continued to
16be a part of the family farm operation through the 2016
17planting season; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman served as a trustee of the Erie Fire
19Protection District for 12 years; he was an active member of
20Erie Evangelical Free Church; he was a veteran and was proud to
21be a part of the Honor Flight in 2015; and

1    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman enjoyed spending time with his
2great-grandchildren and loved to take them for rides around the
3farm on his Gator; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman was preceded in death by his
5parents; his brothers, Isaac and Henry; and his sister, Alice
6Dykema; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Arnold Norman is survived by his loving wife of 61
8years, Adalene; his children, Jerry (Lori) Norman, Mary
9(Warren) Kuh, Beth (Kent) Wirth, and Paula (Jeff) Wiebenga;
10eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his brother,
11Alfred (Ella Mae) Norman; and his sister-in-law, Harriet
12Norman; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Arnold "Arnie" Norman;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Arnold Norman as an expression of
19our sympathy.
