SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Matthew F. Parker, Jr. of Rock Island,
4who passed away on August 4, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. was born on December 21, 1925
6in Chicago; his parents were Matthew F. Parker, Sr. and Louella
7Gordon Parker; he married Katherine Bowen on December 18, 1948
8in Moline; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. served in the United States
10Navy during World War II; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. attended the University of
12Illinois; he worked at IH Farmall in Rock Island for 39 years
13and owned and operated Parker Janitorial Service with his wife
14for 33 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. was a member of New Journey
16African Methodist Episcopal Church in Moline; he was active
17with the Democratic Party and served as a precinct committeeman
18for 23 years and as a trustee for Rock Island Township for more
19than 35 years; he was a member of the Martin Luther King Center
20Active Club; he was very active as a Freemason, having belonged
21to King Solomon Lodge No. 20 F & A.M. P.H.A., Tri-Cities

9    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. was preceded in death by his
10wife, Katherine; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. is survived by his children,
12Cynthia (Craig) Parker-McGee, Michael Parker, and Rosemary
13(Donnie) Childs; his grandchildren, Robert Parker, Brittany
14Parker, and Xavier Parker; his great-grandchildren, Julian and
15Jada Parker, Emmanuel Bomar, Cienna Pettit, X'zayviyanah
16Parker, and Jamaine Jones; his special friend, Thresa Johnson;
17his special niece, Allison Martin; and several nieces and
18nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
21family and friends, mourn the passing of Matthew F. Parker,
22Jr.; and be it further
