SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Zelnio, formerly of
4Moline, who passed away on August 4, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Anthony Zelnio was born in Moline to Dyzmo and
6Maria (Ivanowski) Zelnio on April 28, 1924; he served as a
7Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War
8II; he was a prisoner of war in Stalag IX, Germany and was
9awarded the Purple Heart; he married Norma L. Dendooven in
10Moline on July 3, 1945; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Anthony Zelnio worked at John Deere Harvester
12Works and Reynolds Engineering for a combined 40 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Anthony Zelnio was a member of St. Mary's Church
14in Moline, the Material Handling Society, the John Deere
15Supervisors Club, John Deere Retirees, Moline Senior Citizens,
16American Legion Post 246, the Vikings Club, and the American
17Prisoners of War Society; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Anthony Zelnio was preceded in death by his wife,
19Norma; his parents; and his four brothers; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Anthony Zelnio is survived by his sons, Thomas

1(Sharon) Zelnio, Robert (Joanie) Zelnio, and William (Laurie)
2Zelnio; his grandchildren, Jeff, Ryan, Kevin, Erin, Chris,
3Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Steven; and his great-grandchildren,
4Elliot, Freya, Ariana, Madoc, Noah, and Hudson; therefore, be
5it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Anthony "Tony" Zelnio, and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Anthony Zelnio as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
