SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph Angel Ramirez Sr. of Silvis, who
4passed away on June 13, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Ramirez Sr. was born in East Moline to
6Felix and Cresencta Ramirez on January 2, 1920; he served in
7the United States Army during World War II and married Ophelia
8Lopez in Rock Island on December 31, 1955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joseph Ramirez Sr. worked as a machine operator at
10International Harvester in East Moline for 34 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joseph Ramirez Sr. was a member of VFW Post 8890;
12he played semi pro baseball for the Quad Cities Rebels and was
13marble champion for the State of Illinois; he loved to play the
14guitar and sing with his best friend and brother, Louie; he
15also loved the outdoors and gardening; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joseph Ramirez Sr. was preceded in death by his
17wife, Ophelia; his parents; his sons, Richard and Tom; and 15
18siblings; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joseph Ramirez Sr. is survived by his daughters,
20Josie Johnson, Sally Koehn, Rosann (Randy) Elsbury, and JoAnn

1(Barney) Heist; his sons, George Ramirez, Ray (Pancho) Rivas,
2and Joseph Ramirez Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 47
3great-grandchildren; his sisters, Julia Zapata and Carmen
4McClean; and his brother, Felix Ramirez; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Joseph Angel Ramirez Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Joseph Ramirez Sr. as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
