SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of LaVerne D. Jacobs of Erie, who passed
4away on June 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was born in Fenton to Edward and
6Ruby (Franks) Jacobs on January 20, 1926; he served his country
7in the United States Army during World War II; he married Elsie
8DeCap at St. Ambrose Church in Erie on April 23, 1949; and
 
9    WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs farmed for 20 years before moving
10into town and going to work for Erie Foods as a lab technician
11for 18 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was an active member of St. Ambrose
13Catholic Church in Erie and a past board member; he enjoyed
14gardening, fishing, and golfing; he was a former member at the
15Lake Erie Country Club; after retirement, he took up
16woodworking; and
 
17    WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs was preceded in death by his
18sisters, Clara Dillin and Mary Ann Possley, and his brothers,
19Edward, LeRoy, and Willard Jacobs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, LaVerne Jacobs is survived by his wife, Elsie; his

1children, Mark (Judy) Jacobs, Laura Burk, Allen (Wendy) Jacobs,
2and Scott (Lisa) Jacobs; nine grandchildren; eight
3great-grandchildren; and his sister, Loralie (Darrell) Morse;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7LaVerne D. Jacobs, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of LaVerne Jacobs as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
