SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Darrell C. Free of Port Byron, who passed
4away on June 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Darrell Free was born in Moline to Glenn and
6Lillah Mae (Knapp) Free on September 13, 1946; he graduated
7from Moline High School in 1964; he joined the United States
8Army in 1968 and served as an Intelligence Specialist until his
9discharge in 1970; he returned home and attended Black Hawk
10College; he married Donna DeDecker in Moline on February 11,
111979; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Darrell Free had a long career as a machinist, and
13later a Project Manager, at Rock Island Arsenal; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Darrell Free enjoyed camping all over the country;
15he loved playing and watching basketball, building things with
16his grandchildren, and working with computers; he took great
17pleasure in his walks by the river, his church, and spending
18time with family and friends; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Darrell Free was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brothers, Richard and Roger Free; and

1    WHEREAS, Darrell Free is survived by his wife, Donna; his
2daughters, Holly (Stephen) Sallows and Vanessa (Andrew)
3Jewell; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Elly, Lucy, and Owen
4Sallows, and Colin Jewell; and his brother, Carl (Gemma) Free;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Darrell C. Free, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Darrell Free as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
