SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald E. Derrer of rural Milan, who
4passed away on May 25, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was born in Stephenson County to
6Russell and Leonore Weidman Derrer on September 3, 1937; he
7graduated from Carroll High School and served in the United
8States Army, primarily in Korea; he was united in marriage to
9Ellen Eberle on November 23, 1958; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer and his wife first farmed with his
11parents, east of Mt. Carroll; he was the third generation of
12raising, milking, and showing Registered Holstein cattle;
13after selling the dairy herd, he became a beef and crop farmer;
14he retired from farming in 2002 and moved to Milan to be closer
15to his family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer enjoyed watching his granddaughter
17in her many activities; his greatest love was making memories
18with his children and his granddaughter; he and his wife
19traveled to almost all 50 states and eight other countries; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was a member of the Edgington
21Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon;

1he was also a member of the Rock Island Country Farm Bureau; he
2enjoyed being with his coffee friends at the Reynolds Feed
3Store, McDonald's, and the Friday night group; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer was preceded in death by his parents
5and one brother; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ronald Derrer is survived by his wife, Ellen; his
7daughter and son-in-law, Ronda (Dan) Brown; his son and
8daughter-in-law, Rod (Julie) Derrer; and his granddaughter,
9Rylee Marie Derrer; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ronald E. Derrer, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ronald Derrer as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
