SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Delbert Blair, who passed away at the
4age of 82; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was born on February 13, 1934 in
6Chicago; his parents were George and Dorothy Blair; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair attended Chicago public
8schools, including Englewood High School, and earned his
9bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Roosevelt
10University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair began his career as a regional
12salesperson for the Wrigley Gum Company; sensing a different
13life calling for himself, he began attending lectures on
14African history and metaphysics; after a meeting with two men
15while at a conference sponsored by famous astrophysicist Carl
16Sagan, he decided to devote his time to historical and
17metaphysical research and began forming and teaching classes
18throughout Chicago; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair lectured throughout the United
20States and the world; he spoke at many conferences, including
21"The Meeting of the Masters" in Atlanta, Georgia, and at

1numerous universities, including the University of Southern
2California, Penn State University, Michigan State University,
3the University of Illinois, and Tuskegee University, among many
4others; he was the recipient of numerous honorary degrees from
5many of the institutions he visited; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was a guest speaker on many
7radio shows throughout the nation, speaking on numerous
8scientific topics; he also hosted his own show, "Metaphysics
9Speaks!", where he interviewed many famous subjects, including
10the Minister Louis Farrakhan, Baba Dick Gregory, Maurice White,
11and Oscar Brown, Jr.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair was preceded in death by his
13wife, Marsha Ross Blair; his son, Darnell Blair; and his
14mother; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Delbert Blair is survived by his son, Arvel
16Blair; his daughter-in-law, Gayla Blair; his grandchildren,
17Bronson, Nia, and Aja Blair; his stepdaughter, Angela Harris;
18his grandsons, Marshawn and Markelle Blair; and his ex-wife,
19Annie Blair Johnson; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
22family and friends, mourn the passing of Dr. Delbert Blair; and
