SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ray Merrill Evans of Richmond, who passed
4away on April 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Evans was born in Chicago to Adren Ray and
6Junia (Peterson) Evans on March 18, 1931; he married Ramona
7Vandermeir in Schiller Park on June 16, 1951 and served in the
8United States Army during the Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ray Evans was employed by the Chicago Transit
10Authority as a mechanic; he then worked for Sam's Towing in
11Franklin Park and as a mechanic with TWA; he retired from TWA
12with over 30 years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After retirement, Ray Evans moved with his wife to
14Shelbyville for 11 years and then to Huntley to be closer to
15family; most recently, he resided in the Richmond/Spring Grove
16area; he enjoyed dancing, fishing, traveling, playing cards,
17and cars; he was a member of the Crystal Lake Senior Citizens
18Club, and enjoyed the company of his family and friends; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ray Evans was preceded in death by his parents and
20his two brothers, Lewis and Cleo; and

1    WHEREAS, Ray Evans is survived by his wife, Ramona; his
2five children, John Evans (Sue Flemming), Richard Evans,
3Kimberly (Brian) Bandow, Gregory (Debra) Evans, and Janice
4(Chris) Voegtle; his 13 grandchildren, Shannon Evans (Tom
5Pomplun), Amanda (Craig) Mitchell, Scott Nugent, Justin (Jenn)
6Evans, Timothy (Stephanie) Nugent, Kent Evans, Britt Macias,
7James (Nicole) Evans, Mitchell Evans, Randl Evans, Gregory
8Voegtle, Jesse Evans, and Michael Voegtle; his
9great-grandchildren, Evan, Kayli, Weston, Anastasia, Brayden,
10Jayce, Cree, Charis, and August; and his three sisters, Arline
11Christell, Lorraine Hagen, and Faye Ford; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Ray Merrill Evans, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ray Evans as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
