SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert L. Bowman of Rock Island, who
4passed away on May 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman was born on February 7, 1921 in Rock
6Island; his parents were William L. and Lulu Bowman; he married
7Glenna Eilleen Morris on September 14, 1946 in Rock Island; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman was a World War II veteran, having
9served with the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman was a truck driver with Consolidated
11Freightways for many years until his retirement in 1981; in
12earlier years, he worked at Chippiannock Cemetery; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman was a member of the Veterans of
14Foreign Wars, the Teamsters, and Gloria Dei Presbyterian Church
15in Rock Island; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman enjoyed working in his garage,
17repairing all sorts of things, building go-carts for his
18daughter and other neighborhood kids, canoeing, sailing, and
19cars, especially his Mazda Miata; roller skating held an
20important place in his heart, having met his future wife,

1Glenna, while skating at the various roller skating rinks of
2the area during the 1930s and 1940s; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman was preceded in death by his wife,
4Glenna; his parents; his brother, James; and his sister, Doris
5Moran; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Bowman is survived by his daughter and
7son-in-law, Patricia and Kent Ferris; his granddaughter and her
8husband, Megan and Austin Reynolds; and many nieces and
9nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Bowman; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Robert Bowman as an expression of
16our sympathy.
