SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary G. Newman of Moline, who passed away
4on April 26, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Newman was born in Cambridge to Wilbur G. and
6Beverly J. (Brown) Newman on August 4, 1948; he married Linda
7Fittro at Memorial Heights Church in Rock Island on December
828, 1968 and served in the United States Army from 1968 to
91971; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gary Newman retired from the United States Postal
11Service in 2009, following 38 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gary Newman was a perfectionist who greatly
13enjoyed organizing and labeling all of his belongings; he spent
14lots of time "tinkering", whether it be in his office at home
15or on a car in the garage; he was an avid NASCAR and Minnesota
16Vikings fan and compiled a large memorabilia collection for the
17two; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary Newman was preceded in death by his parents
19and his two brothers-in-law; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gary Newman is survived by his wife, Linda; his

1daughter, Melanie (Tuan) Dang; his son, Daniel (Brianne)
2Newman; his grandchildren, Brittany Guthrie, Ragan Bax, and
3Tyler, Jacalyn, Leigha, and Riley Newman; his
4great-grandchildren, Jaida and Karlie Guthrie and one on the
5way; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Fittro; his sisters-in-law,
6Millie Mills and Susan (John) Steves; and several nieces,
7nephews, and other loving family members and friends;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gary G. Newman, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gary Newman as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
