SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Matthew C. Murrin of Silvis, who passed
4away on April 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was born on September 20, 1924 in
6Moline; his parents were Michael J. and Mary C. Murrin; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin served his country in the United
8States Navy during World War II on the USS Cumberland and was
9among the first to enter Tokyo Bay; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin worked at I.H. Works in East Moline
11for 33 years until his retirement in 1981; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was a lifelong member of St. Mary's
13Church in Moline and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he was a
14past-president and charter member of the National Corvette Club
15and was one of the founders of the Midwest Corvette Car Club;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was preceded in death by his
18parents; two sisters; and two brothers; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin is survived by his sisters,

1Patricia Gaydon, Rita Johnson, Betty Marco, and Kay Murrin; his
2brother, Paul (Carol) Murrin; and his 23 nieces and nephews;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Matthew C. Murrin; and
7be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Matthew Murrin as an expression of
10our sympathy.
