SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Pedro D. "Pete" Ortiz, Jr. of East
4Moline, who passed away on December 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pedro Ortiz was born in El Paso, Texas on January
615, 1921 to Pedro and Rosanda (nee Delgado) Ortiz, Sr.; he
7served as an armed guard in the United States Navy during World
8War II and married Suzanna Gomez in Fort Madison, Iowa on June
913, 1949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pedro Ortiz worked as a body man at the former
11Warren Chevrolet in East Moline and at Reynolds Ford; he
12retired from the former International Harvester in 1981; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Pedro Ortiz was a member of St. Anne Parish; he
14was a Life Member of the VFW 8890; he was a self-taught
15musician and played the drums with local and traveling bands;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pedro Ortiz was preceded in death by his parents;
18his siblings, Mary Martinez, Hope Martinez, Ceta Lopez, Frank
19Ortiz, and Esther Guzman; and his daughter, Nancy Rose; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pedro Ortiz is survived by his wife of 66 years,

1Suzanna; his children, Patricia (Gregory) Ramirez, David
2Ortiz, and Michael Ortiz; his 6 grandchildren; his 7
3great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandson; therefore,
4be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Pedro D. "Pete" Ortiz, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Pedro Ortiz as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
