SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Merwin Perry Baker of East Moline, who
4passed away on January 3, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Merwin Baker was born in East Moline on February
622, 1926 to Commodore Perry and Barbara Findley Baker; he
7served as a radio operator on a ship in the United States Navy
8during World War II, seeing action at Imo Jima; he married
9Margaret Larson at St. Johns Catholic Church in Rapids City on
10October 19, 1946; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Merwin Baker retired from International Harvester
12in East Moline after over 34 years in 1978; he also worked at
13Flicks Plumbing for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Merwin Baker was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
15Church in East Moline and American Legion Post 227; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Merwin Baker was preceded in death by his parents;
17his sister, Helena Eckert; his brother, Kenneth Baker; his son,
18Steve Baker; and his grandson, Paul Baker; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Merwin Baker is survived by his loving wife of 69
20years, Margaret; his children, Linda (Jeff) Vaughn, Kathleen

1McIntosh (Jim Turner), Marcia Allen, Christine Baker (Don
2"Speedy" Williams), Denise Baker, Daniel Baker (Pammy Gomez),
3Marty Baker, Pamela Baker, Paula Baker, and Sandra (Floyd)
4Cordova; he has 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a
5great-great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Merwin Perry Baker, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Merwin Baker as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
