SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Miles Ellsworth Wallingford, who passed
4away on November 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Miles Wallingford was born in East Moline on March
623, 1919 to Warder and Ida Wallingford; he served in the United
7States Navy as a storekeeper during World War II from 1943 to
81945 on Midway Island; he married Eleanor Anderson on September
926, 1953 in Moline; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Miles Wallingford worked at the Rock Island
11Arsenal, the Roy Roth Pump Company, and Rock Island Lines,
12where he worked as a switchman and served as a union
13representative; he served on the Carbon Cliff Village Board,
14the TIF Committee, the School Board, and was a volunteer
15fireman and Optimist Club member; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Miles Wallingford loved life, family, friends,
17music, reading, playing cards, repairing cars, lawn mowers, and
18anything mechanical; he also loved nature, hunting, fishing,
19and gardening; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Miles Wallingford was preceded in death by his
21wife, Eleanor; his parents, Ida and Warder Wallingford; his

1sisters, Mary Brown and Winifred Roth; and several wonderful
2relatives and friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Miles Wallingford is survived by his children,
4Gene (Ann) Reiling, Penny (Lee Seitelman) Wallingford, and
5Minetta (David I. Rubin) Wallingford; his grandchildren,
6Brielle Seitelman, Victoria Seitelman, and Katie Seitelman;
7his siblings, Kathleen DeRoo and Richard Wallingford (Helen);
8his great friend, Linda Bredberg, who was like family; and the
9many other close friends and relatives who loved him;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Miles Ellsworth Wallingford, and extend our sincere
14condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Miles Wallingford as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
