SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alan W. Johnson of East Moline, who
4passed away on November 14, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was born on January 12, 1924 in
6Moline; his parents were Albin W. and Laura E. Ohline Johnson;
7he married Natalie J. Welander on September 9, 1961 in Moline;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson graduated from Moline High School in
101942; he served for 3 years in the United States Army Air Force
11during World War II, mostly in the Southwest Pacific theatre;
12after his discharge, he attended the former Moline Institute of
13Commerce and subsequently graduated from Walton School of
14Commerce in Chicago in 1950; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was employed by the United States
16Steel Supply Division in Moline and Chicago for 10 years; he
17later worked at the former Franks Foundry Corporation in Moline
18and Davenport in a variety of accounting and administrative
19positions until his retirement in 1982; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was a member of Calvary Lutheran
21Church and was a member of the Church Council and served as

1Church Treasurer for 18 years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was preceded in death by his parents;
3his wife, Natalie; and his sister, Betty L. (Forest) Johnson
4Reid; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alan Johnson is survived by his brother-in-law,
6John L. (Joan) Welander; his niece, Jill (Robert)
7Welander-Mahlburg; his nephews, Mark (Budell) Welander and
8Thomas T. (Suzanne) Welander; and his many cousins,
9great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Alan W. Johnson; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Alan Johnson as an expression of our
16sympathy.
