SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Thomas "D.T." Richardson, Sr. of
4Benton, who passed away on November 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Richardson was born in Anaheim, California
6on July 21, 1963 to Walter Tom and Sara Sue (nee Bassett)
7Richardson; he married Christine Marie Tasky on May 21, 2011;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Richardson began his career in law
10enforcement with the Energy Police Department; he later became
11Chief of Police in Crainville; he then worked for the
12Christopher Police Department and as a Deputy with the Franklin
13County Sheriff's Department where he was employed for 24 years;
14after retiring from the Franklin County Sheriff's Department,
15he became Chief of Police at Sesser; he was then appointed
16interim Fire Chief with the City of Benton Fire Department; he
17then worked as a police officer with the City of Benton, where
18he was most recently employed; in 2001, he served as an
19International Police Officer with the United Nations Defense in
20Kosovo; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Donald Richardson enjoyed fishing, spending time
22with his friends, and his law enforcement and firefighter

1families; he also loved his pugs; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Donald Richardson was preceded in death by his
3father; his foster parent, Jerry Gass; his brother-in-law,
4Bruce Tasky; and his paternal and maternal grandparents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Richardson is survived by his wife,
6Christine; his mother, Sara Vancil; his son, Donald Thomas
7"Tommy" Richardson, Jr.; his 2 grandchildren; his stepson, John
8Bryan Tasky and wife, Heather; his father-in-law and
9mother-in-law, Bill and Nancy Tasky; his brother, Robert Eugene
10Richardson and wife, Lisa; his sister-in-law and
11brother-in-law, Kim and Mike Mandrell; his brother-in-law,
12William David Tasky; his special friends, Dave and Shelley
13Webb; his aunt, Laura; several nieces and nephews; and his law
14enforcement and firefighter family; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Donald Thomas "D.T." Richardson, Sr., and extend our sincere
18condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
19him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Donald Richardson as an expression
22of our deepest sympathy.
