SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard L. "Dick" Shearer of Erie, who
4passed away on November 3, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer was born on May 16, 1926 in
6Prophetstown; his parents were Louis and Louise Hefke Shearer;
7he married Jean Skarin on September 7, 1947 in Prophetstown;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer graduated from Prophetstown High
10School in 1944; he then joined the United States Navy, where he
11served on a destroyer during World War II; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer worked as a dairy farmer for the
13former Wilder Farms and Whiteside County FS, retiring after 20
14years of service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer was a member of Countryside
16Christian Church; he loved his family, the Lord, and fishing;
17he also had the privilege to experience a trip to Washington,
18D.C. on the Honor Flight; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer was preceded in death by his
20parents; his sister, Jane Reynolds; and his grandson, Stann

1Shearer; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Richard Shearer is survived by his wife, Jean; his
3children, David (Debra) Shearer, Wendy Drott, Joe (Kathy)
4Shearer, and Ruth (Richard) Waterman; his 5 grandchildren; and
5his 8 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard L. "Dick"
9Shearer; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Richard Shearer as an expression of
12our sympathy.
