SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert M. Bestor of rural East Moline,
4who passed away on October 31, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was born in Geneseo on July 18, 1918
6to Clyde and Verna Hornecker Bestor; he graduated from Geneseo
7High School and attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton,
8Missouri; he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States
9Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World War II; he
10married Irene Morgan in Pasadena, California on October 21,
111945; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Bestor, along with his brother, Stan, owned
13and operated many businesses in and around Geneseo, including
14Bestor Brothers, an automotive dealership, and Geneseo Hotel,
15where they opened the Cellar Restaurant; they also developed
16many businesses on all 4 corners of the Geneseo exit of
17Interstate 80, including the Deck Gas & Oil and the Deck
18Restaurant & Motel, among others; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Bestor enjoyed fishing, gardening,
20traveling, and working; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was preceded in death by his wife,

1Irene; his parents; his son, Jeffrey; and his brother, Stan;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Robert Bestor is survived by his son, Greg Bestor;
4his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jack Morgan; his
5granddaughter, Kami Ramsgate; his 2 great-grandsons, Wyatt and
6Chase; his 3 step-grandchildren, Russell Morgan, Jackie
7Lorman, and Thomas Morgan; and numerous
8step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Robert M. Bestor, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Robert Bestor as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
