SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth E. "Ken" Kelley of Coal Valley,
4who passed away on October 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Kelley was born in Lead Hill, Arkansas on June
613, 1920 to William Edward and Maudeline Wilson Kelley; he
7married Gertrude "Velma" Roberts on January 10, 1942 in
8Harrison and served in the United States Army during World War
9II under General Patton; he was a prisoner of war and escaped;
10he received the Purple Heart medal; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Kelley was a machine operator at Alcoa,
12retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ken Kelley enjoyed bluegrass music; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ken Kelley was preceded in death by his parents;
15his wife, Velma; his daughters, Sue Neal and Melba Crampton;
16his grandson, Billy Joe Kelley; his sisters, Clydine and
17Bonnie; and his brother, Hubert; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ken Kelley is survived by his daughter, Brenda
19(Milton) DeShane; his son, Gary (Sherry) Kelley; his 13
20grandchildren; his 21 great-grandchildren; his 16

1great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Willadean (Jim) Pogue;
2and his brother, Kirby (Sue) Kelley; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Kenneth E. "Ken" Kelley, and extend our sincere condolences to
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Ken Kelley as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
