SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Wendell "J.W." Haney of Milan, who
4passed away on August 28, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Haney was born in Aledo on April 14, 1928 to
6John Henry and Emma Mathilda (nee Murdock) Haney; he married
7Betty Marie Waggoner in Marston on June 7, 1950; he graduated
8from Aledo High School and later received an associates degree
9from Black Hawk College; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Haney was a veteran of the Korean War and was
11awarded the Combat Infantry Badge; he retired as a Captain from
12the Illinois Army National Guard 123rd Field Artillery; he
13retired in 1985 as an Equipment Specialist Supervisor with the
14Tank Automotive Command at the Rock Island Arsenal after 32
15years of federal service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Haney was a 50-year and life member of
17Masonic Lodge 679 in Buffalo Prairie and Trio Lodge 57 in Rock
18Island; he was past Governor, Administrator, and Pilgrim Degree
19at Moose Lodge 190, Rock Island; he was a member of Kaaba
20Shriner, Davenport; the Black Hawk Shrine Club; the Order of
21Eastern Star; Andalusia Chapter 617; Rock Island Elks 980; the
22Korean War Veterans Association; American Legion Post 1166,

1Reynolds; Mohassen Grotto, Davenport; the Valley of Moline
2Scottish Rite; and Baptist Antioch Church, Reynolds; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Haney enjoyed playing golf and organized
4various tournaments; he wintered in Texas with his wife and
5enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Haney was preceded in death by his parents,
7and his wife, Betty; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Haney is survived by his children, Michael
9(Helen) Haney and Richard (Cathy) Haney; his grandchildren,
10Elizabeth (Michael) Gorman, John W. Haney, Megan Haney, and
11Matthew Haney; his great-grandchildren, Anthony and Eleni
12Gorman; his sister, Barbara Evans; and his special friend, Mary
13Lloyd; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John Wendell "J.W." Haney, and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Haney as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
