SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard N. Slead of Moline, who passed
4away on July 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Slead was born on October 21, 1926 in
6Moline; his parents were Ora and Hazel (Whetstine) Slead; he
7married Dorothy Holdefer on January 9, 1948 in Muscatine; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Slead served his country as a member of
9the United States Navy during World War II; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Slead retired from the Schebler Company in
11Davenport, Iowa in 1995 after 30 years of service; he was also
12the owner of the former Bridgelane Tap in Moline; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Slead enjoyed woodworking, gardening,
14traveling, and his pets; he was also an avid Chicago Cubs and
15Bears fan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Slead was preceded in death by his wife,
17his brothers, Donald and Jimmy Slead, and a sister, Elsie
18Adamson; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Slead is survived by 5 children, Norman

1(Cheryl) Slead, Tom (Pam) Slead, Pat (Pete) Strupp, Monica
2(Larry) York, and Michael Slead (Tracy Eichhorst); 14
3grandchildren, Karri (Mike) Hantz, Robert (Marci) Strupp,
4Matthew (Hollie) York, Ryan York, Robert (Aimee) York, Rachael
5(Mark) Kwasny, Josh Slead, Andy Slead, Mitch Slead, Eric
6(Angela) Slead, Michele Benson, Zac Nicke, Jason Slagel, and
7Jeremy Slagel; and 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard N. Slead; and
11be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Richard Slead as an expression of
14our sympathy.
