SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Earlene Range, who passed away on July 7,
42015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earlene Range was born on September 8, 1956 in
6Chicago; her parents were Cleo Smith and Joann White; she
7married Edward Range, Sr. on September 18, 1976; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Earlene Range attended James Wadsworth Elementary
9School and graduated from Hype Park Academy in 1974; she also
10attended the Computer System Institute, where she majored in
11business; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As a teenager, Earlene Range worked at a tackle
13shop; later in life, she worked at numerous jobs, including
14Nelson Brothers Furniture, Heilig Meyers Furniture, the AAA
15Motor Club, and the American Dental Hygienist Association; and
 
16    WHEREAS, At the age of 12, Earlene Range was baptized and
17joined the Lower Light Missionary Baptist Church under the
18leadership of the late Fred Gregory; after years of fellowship
19at Lower Light, she joined New Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist
20Church under the pastorate of her son, Rev. Edward E. Range,
21Jr.; on April 29, 2012, she moved her membership to St. Paul

1Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Joel D.
2Taylor; at St. Paul, she served as Vice President of the Women
3Intermediate Auxiliary and the Men's and Women Choirs; she also
4attended weekly Wednesday night Bible classes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earlene Range enjoyed spending the weekends at her
6mother-in-law's house, participating in family functions,
7traveling, and spending time with her son, her grandchildren,
8and her church family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Earlene Range was preceded in death by her
10parents; her grandparents; and 4 brothers-in-law, Elias,
11Halford, Halvord, and David; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Earlene Range is survived by her husband, Edward,
13Sr.; her son, Rev. Edward Range, Jr.; a grandson, Errik Range;
14a daughter, Yolanda (Michael) Maura; an aunt, Carmen (Tyrone)
15Oakley; 4 grandchildren, Burnell and Jazmine Gatlin and
16Michaela and Mekhi Maura; 3 special sons, Peter Taylor, Keith
17Brown, and Vernon Vickers; 11 brothers and sisters-in-law,
18Shirley Dodd, Barbara Jackson, Frances, Lolieta, Mary Jane,
19Hermein (Hal) Baskin, Marietta, David, Lloyd, Paul (Mary), and
20Shaneice; 3 special friends, Julia Mahan, Angelo Nutall, and
21Julie Pickens; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
22friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
3family and friends, mourn the passing of Earlene Range; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Earlene Range as an expression of
7our sympathy.
