SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mark Johnson, who passed away on December
413, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson graduated from Willowbrook High
6School in 1966 and received the school's Distinguished Alumni
7Award in 2012; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson was a member of the DuPage High
9School District 88 Board of Education since 1999, serving as
10President from 2003 to 2011; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson represented District 88 in the
12Legislative Education Network of DuPage County and as a member
13of the SASED Board of Control; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson supported the District 88 "Building
15The Future" project to enhance the learning environment for
16students and he supported District 88 in building futures for
17students and fulfilling the district's mission of working for
18the continuous improvement of student achievement; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson also served as Deputy Chief for the
20Villa Park Police Department; he was on the District 45

1Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park, and the Tri-Town
2YMCA; he was a council member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in
3Villa Park and a PADS worker; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson and his wife, Phyllis, shared a
5passion for the arts and were proponents of the fine arts
6program in District 88; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mark Johnson made decisions to ensure a
8high-quality educational experience for the students of
9District 88; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Mark Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
13friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That as suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Mark Johnson as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
