AMENDMENT TO SENATE RESOLUTION 139

2    AMENDMENT NO. ___. Amend Senate Resolution 139 by replacing
3everything after the heading with the following:
 
4    "WHEREAS, Certain communities on the Northwest side of the
5City of Chicago lay underneath the key nighttime air routes
6that converge over the community; this includes 5 glide paths,
72 major take-off plates, and air routes, all used after 10
8p.m.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Certain communities on the Northwest side of the
10City of Chicago seek a solution to the nighttime sleep
11interruptions during the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., including
12the shoulder hours as well; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Nextgen Program is currently being applied at
14O'Hare International Airport, where flights that used to be
155-miles spaced apart will soon have only a 3-mile separation,

1times 6 east-to-west approach patterns for all inbound flights;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, These communities of the City of Chicago and the
4surrounding suburbs of both Cook and DuPage Counties are
5experiencing higher levels of jet noise, especially during the
6phase 1 nighttime flight operations; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the Federal
9Aviation Administration and the United States Environmental
10Protection Agency to conduct a study describing the
11environmental and human health impacts caused by runways and
12air traffic noise at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and
13the actual noise levels experienced in 2015; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
15delivered to the Commissioner of O'Hare International Airport,
16the Acting Administrator of the Federal Aeronautics
17Administration, and to each member of the Illinois
18congressional delegation.".
