SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
60 ILCS 1/85-60 new
65 ILCS 5/11-101-3 new

    Amends the Township Code and the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the township board or corporate authorities of a municipality that borders an airport with at least 500,000 combined aircraft departures and landings per year may, by ordinance, regulate airspace over the township or municipality. Defines "airspace" to mean an altitude up to 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle on the surface of the township or municipality.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Township Code is amended by adding Section
585-60 as follows:
 
6    (60 ILCS 1/85-60 new)
7    Sec. 85-60. Airspace regulation. The township board of a
8township that borders an airport, as defined in Section 6 of
9the Illinois Aeronautics Act, with at least 500,000 combined
10aircraft departures and landings per year may, by ordinance,
11regulate airspace over the township. For the purposes of this
12Section, "airspace" means an altitude up to 1,000 feet above
13the highest obstacle on the surface of the township.
 
14    Section 10. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
15adding Section 11-101-3 as follows:
 
16    (65 ILCS 5/11-101-3 new)
17    Sec. 11-101-3. Airspace regulation. The corporate
