HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Tommie
4Echols Boykin, who passed away on November 7, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin was born on February 24, 1931 in
6Memphis, Tennessee; her parents were Clifton and Victoria
7Echols; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin attended Larose Elementary School,
9Booker T. Washington High School, and LeMoyne Owen College; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin served as President of the National
11Association of Government Employees #R5-66 following the
12passing of her husband in 1974; she also served as an Auxiliary
13Probation Officer for Girls with the City of Memphis and a
14Sales Associate at MCI; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin was a member of Castalia Baptist
16Church; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin was preceded in death by her
18husband, Drew Boykin, Jr.; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tommie Boykin is survived by her aunt, Johnnie

1Sanders (David - Sonny); her sister, Flewellen Echols Jenkins
2(Ronnie Bell); her children, Shirley Boykin-Doss (Jerry),
3Clifton Echols Boykin, Vicki Drew Boykin Adams (David), Willa
4Boykin Broom (Jessie), and John Flewellen Boykin (Palmetra);
5six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one nephew; one
6niece; and many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
10Tommie Echols Boykin; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Tommie Boykin as an expression of
13our sympathy.
