HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lorene King on the
4occasion of her retirement as Assistant Director of Student
5Development and Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator with the
6University of Illinois Peoria College of Medicine Urban Health
7Program; and
 
8    WHEREAS, A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Lorene King moved
9to Peoria to attend Bradley University after being awarded an
10academic scholarship; at Bradley, she earned a Bachelor of
11Science in marketing and a Master of Science in Liberal
12Studies, and studied community counseling; she spent more than
13a decade in the private sector with Caterpillar, Inc. and in
14the public sector with the Illinois Department of Employment
15Security and Illinois Central Community College; she currently
16serves at Illinois Central Community College as an Adjunct
17Instructor for the Social Sciences Department; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lorene King has been the Assistant Director of
19Student Development and most recently the Outreach and
20Recruitment Coordinator with the Peoria College of Medicine
21Urban Health Program for the past nine years; during this time,
22she provided enhanced support to students from
23underrepresented populations and dedicated substantial

1resources to assist any UICOMP medical student who was
2experiencing academic difficulties; she also played an
3instrumental part in connecting medical students with the local
4community to perform volunteer service projects and
5strengthened the UICOMP presence within underserved
6communities; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lorene King will celebrate her retirement at a
8celebration in her honor on October 7, 2016 at the University
9of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12congratulate Lorene King on the occasion of her retirement and
13wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Lorene King as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
