HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie
4Ann Klise of Peoria, who passed away on April 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Klise was born in Peoria to Dallas Monroe
6and Margaret (Feeney) Costello on December 24, 1931; she
7attended St. Mark School and graduated from the Academy of Our
8Lady in 1949; she graduated from Clarke College in Dubuque,
9Iowa with a degree in theater and education; she married Thomas
10Klise in Peoria on August 24, 1957; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marjorie Klise taught at Von Steuben School before
12devoting herself to raising her family; she later served as
13President of the Thomas S. Klise Company; she was involved in
14countless neighborhood, civic, cultural, and social justice
15efforts; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marjorie Klise felt passionately about historic
17preservation, neighborhood gatherings, liberation theology,
18progressive politics, and the annual Moss-Bradley sale; she
19never tired of traveling and trying new things; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marjorie Klise was preceded in death by her
21parents; her husband, Thomas; her two sisters, Joan Costello

1McQuillen and Gertrude Holly; and her son, David Klise; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marjorie Klise is survived by her children,
3Elizabeth (Michael von Zerneck) Klise, Margaret Klise, Sarah
4Klise, Kate Klise, Julia (Joe Augustine) Klise, and James
5(Michael Kuras) Klise; her eight grandchildren, Peter,
6Sebastian, Lorenzo, Eliza, Flora, Milo, Lionel, and Desmond;
7her sister, Mariclare Costello Arbus; and numerous nieces,
8nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11mourn the passing of Marjorie Ann Klise, and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marjorie Klise as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
