HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston, a guard for the Golden State
3Warriors of the National Basketball Association, was born in
4Peoria on September 11, 1985; he led Concordia Lutheran Grade
5School to Lutheran School Association State titles in 1999 and
62000; he played competitive basketball at Richwoods High School
7for 2 years, before transferring to Peoria Central High School,
8where he led his team to Class AA State titles in 2003 and
92004; he was named Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2004 and played
10in the 2004 McDonalds' High School All-American game, for which
11he was named co-MVP; in 2007, he was voted one of the "100
12Legends of the Illinois High School Association Boys Basketball
13Tournament"; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston was considered a 5-star recruit
15by Rivals.com and was listed as the No. 1 point guard and the
16No. 2 player in the nation in 2004; he committed to playing for
17Duke, but opted to make the jump to the NBA straight out of
18high school; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston was selected 4th in the 2004 NBA
20draft by the Los Angeles Clippers; he was an integral part of
21one of the Clippers best seasons in franchise history during
22the 2005-06 season; and

1    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston played with numerous NBA teams
2and overcame several injuries before eventually finding a place
3with the Golden State Warriors in July of 2014; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston served as one of the key players
5off the bench during the Golden State Warriors' 2015 NBA
6Championship run; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9designate September 10, 2015 as "Shaun Livingston Day" in the
10State of Illinois and we wish him many more successful years;
11and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Shaun Livingston as an expression of our esteem
14and respect.
