HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy
4Mae Coulter of Morton, who passed away on March 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was born in Peoria on March 13,
61922 to Royal J. and Nellie Minnie (nee Sank) Zerwekh; she
7married C. Elmer Coulter in Peoria on October 8, 1944; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was an active member of Trinity
9Lutheran Church and devoted her life to volunteerism; she
10participated in the annual summer vacation Bible school events
11and enjoyed assembling Braille reading books; she co-founded
12the Educable Mentally Handicapped program at her church and was
13involved with the program for over 40 years; in 2002, she
14received the Follower of the Lamb award from Bethesda Lutheran
15Homes & Services, Inc. in recognition of her service to persons
16with developmental disabilities; she also was a regular
17volunteer at the Bel-Wood Nursing Home and received its
18Volunteer of the Year Award in 2002 in recognition for her 30
19years of weekly service; she served as a weekly volunteer at
20Valeska Hinton primary school and was recognized for her
21service in 1998 with the Quiet Hero Award from Peoria Public
22Schools; and

1    WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter enjoyed card games and going out
2to dinner and taking summer vacations with her family; she was
3always pushing her children and grandchildren to acquire as
4much education as they could; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was preceded in death by her
6husband, C. Elmer, and her grandson, Jeremy R. Coulter; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter is survived by her 3 sons, Royal
8J. (Kathy) Coulter, Gary D. (Dianne) Coulter, and Roger (Deb)
9Coulter; her 10 grandchildren, Chris (Melanie), Jeff
10(Allison), Matt (Kris), Tara (Ed), Melissa (Skyler), Meghan
11(Matt), Jaimee (Jeff), Joy (Erik), Jessica (Todd), and Jonah;
12her 18 great-grandchildren, Maria, Brian, Michael, Patrick,
13Ella, Claire, Jack, Bryn, Luke, Sam, Luca, Miles, August,
14Graham, Ivy, Gavin, Lila, and Sawyer; her sister, Mary Jane
15Russell; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18mourn the passing of Dorothy Mae Coulter, and extend our
19sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
20and loved her; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Dorothy Coulter as an expression of
