HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4Clementine Lela Watson, who passed away on January 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson was born on August 30, 1940 in
6Chicago; her parents were Lela Mae and Charles Evans; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson attended Roosevelt University
8in Chicago; she was employed as a dispatcher for the
9Consolidated Rail Corporation in Chicago for approximately 30
10years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After retiring, Clementine Watson relocated to
12Peoria and served on several Litter Awareness Committees; she
13was also a proud member of the Neighborhood Alliance in Peoria,
14the Regional Neighborhood Network Conference, and the
15Southside Communities United for Change and served as Treasurer
16for the Martin-Warren Southside Neighborhood Association; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist
18Church under the pastorate of Rev. Alphonso Lyons, Jr.; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson enjoyed traveling, shopping,
20fishing, mentoring children, advocating for neighborhood

1wellness, and spending time with her godnieces, godnephews, and
2extended family members; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson was preceded in death by her
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clementine Watson is survived by a brother, Vernon
6(Faye) Evans; a godsister, Lorraine B. Carter; 5 cousins, Anita
7Roberts, Maxine Hollins, Brenda Carter, Odessa Little, and
8Linda Notree; a godniece, Sherry Carter-Allen; and many
9great-godnieces, godnephews, cousins, city and neighborhood
10community leaders, and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
14Clementine Lela Watson; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Clementine Watson as an expression
17of our sympathy.
