HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
3provides state-of-the-art intelligence to policymakers, the
4military, intelligence professionals, and first responders;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Many of the National Geospatial-Intelligence
7Agency's missions, such as GPS monitoring and aeronautical
8safety of navigation, are conducted from the St. Louis region
9facility; and
 
10    WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence
11Agency, anyone who sails a United States ship, flies a United
12States aircraft, makes national policy decisions, fights wars,
13locates targets, responds to natural disasters, or even
14navigates with a cell phone relies on the National
15Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency plans
17to build a new campus in the St. Louis/Metro East region by
182021; the new campus is estimated to generate 3,000 jobs; and
 
19    WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence
20Agency, the St. Louis/Metro East region is critical to the
21agency's mission and long-term vision for geospatial

1intelligence; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is
3considering 4 potential locations for the campus, Fenton,
4Missouri, Mehlville, Missouri, a location in the northern
5portion of St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Clair County, Illinois;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, The St. Clair County location serves as the most
8logical and best location as it serves as the only location
9adjacent to a military base (Scott Air Force Base) and a major
10Interstate, Interstate 64; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13urge the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to build its
14new campus at the St. Clair County, Illinois location, adjacent
15to Scott Air Force Base; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That we welcome the National
17Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to the State of Illinois and the
18estimated 3,000 jobs it will bring to the State; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
21delivered to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the
