SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 283/15

    Amends the Public Corruption Profit Forfeiture Act. Provides that any person who pleads guilty to, or is found guilty of, any felony relating to, arising out of, or in connection with his or her service as an elected official of this State shall forfeit all contributions held by political committees controlled by him or her to the General Revenue Fund of the State (currently, this forfeiture applies only to convictions for extortion, receiving the proceeds of extortion, bribery, and kickbacks). Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. Public Corruption Profit Forfeiture Act is
5amended by changing Section 15 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 283/15)
7    Sec. 15. Forfeiture of political contribution. Whenever
8any person pleads guilty to, or is found guilty of, any offense
9under subsection (a) of Section 10 of this Act, or is convicted
10of a violation of any of the following Sections of Title 18 of
11the United States Code: (i) Section 872 (extortion); (ii)
12Section 880 (receiving the proceeds of extortion); (iii)
13Section 201 (bribery); or (iv) Section 874 (kickbacks); or (v)
14any felony relating to, arising out of, or in connection with
15his or her service as an elected official of this State, in
16addition to any other penalty imposed by the court, all
17contributions (as defined by Section 9-1.4 of the Election
18Code) or other receipts held at the time of forfeiture by a
19political committee (as defined by Section 9-1.8 of the
20Election Code), which is controlled by that person, shall be
21paid to the State within 30 days from the date of the entry of
22the guilty plea or conviction. Payments received by the State
23pursuant to this Section shall be deposited into the General
