SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carl G. Wellman of Harvard, who passed
4away on August 25, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was born September 13, 1925 in West
6Point, Iowa to Henry and Bertha (nee Wiggenjost) Wellman; he
7served in the United States Army during World War II in the
8Philippines; he married Winnifred Walsh on October 25, 1952 in
9Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carl Wellman farmed in his early years in Iowa and
11Canada and for many years he worked as an electrician for
12Illinois Bell in Chicago; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was a member of the Woodstock
14Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Harvard Grange, and the Antique
15Outboard Motor Club; he had a large collection of antique
16outboard motors and was also well known for his hat collection;
17he enjoyed attending thresheree events such as the Rock River
18Thresheree in Edgerton, Wisconsin; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was preceded in death by his sisters,
20Marian Woolford, Lucille Schumaker, Irene Wellman, and Clara
21Wellman; and

1    WHEREAS, Carl Wellman is survived by his wife, Winnifred
2"Winnie" Wellman; daughter, Lynn (Tim) O'Brien; grandchildren,
3Megan, Colleen, and Kevin O'Brien; brother, James (Mary)
4Wellman; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Carl G. Wellman, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Carl Wellman as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
