SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rudolph "Rudy" J. Papa, who passed away
4on August 28, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was born on September 1, 1936 in
6Madison; his parents were John and Helen (nee Zarr) Papa; he
7married Jacqueline Kintzele on September 14, 1957; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa worked at the Bethalto School
9District for 33 years and it was important to him to be known
10as an educator; he loved each and every one of his students and
11could remember their names long after they left his classroom;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa served the Village of Bethalto as a
14board member for 12 years; he was elected to the Madison County
15Board in 1982 and served until he retired from public office in
162001; he was elected by his fellow board members to serve as
17county board chairman in 1996; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was a member of Our Lady Queen of
19Peace Catholic Church; he was a member of the Knights of
20Columbus, where he was a 3rd Degree Knight and had been a past
21Grand Knight; he was also a member of the Illinois Education

1Association and the National Education Association; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa served on the State of Illinois
3Community College Board; he was the curator of the Bethalto
4Museum; he served as Wood River Township Highway Commissioner
5and as a precinct committeeman; he also served as a baseball
6coach; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa enjoyed history, golf, playing his
8harmonica, his swimming pool, walking his dog, flowers,
9butterflies, all local sports, music, dancing, and spending
10time with his grandbabies and granddogs; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was preceded in death by his parents
12and 5 brothers, Bob, George, Frank, Bill, and Joe; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa is survived by his wife, Jacqueline;
145 daughters and their spouses, Diana Williams, Jill (Brad)
15Sauls, JoEllyn (Kent) Patterson, Beth Papa, and Mary (Oscar
16Nuncio) Papa; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley (Eric)
17Anderson, Paige Williams, Jim and Joe Sauls, Ben and Andrew
18Patterson, and Bailee Tanney; 2 brothers and their spouses,
19John (Louise) Papa and Larry (Sue) Papa; and many nieces and
20nephews; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
2family and friends, mourn the passing of Rudolph "Rudy" J.
3Papa; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Rudolph Papa as an expression of our
6sympathy.
