SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald E. Hopwood, Sr. of Springfield,
4who passed away on August 16, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. was born on July 31, 1940 in
6Springfield; his parents were Harold and Katherine Lucille
7Durham Hopwood; he married Doris Davis on November 11, 1983;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. served his country as a member
10of the United States Air Force; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. was employed with the
12Statesville Correctional Facility, the Master Supply Company,
13Beatrice Foods, Springfield Clinic, and Elliott Avenue Baptist
14Church; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. was a member and president of
16the Springfield Center for Independent Living Board of
17Directors, the Springfield Mass Transit District Advisory
18Committee, the Springfield Disabilities Committee, the SCIL
19Access Committee, and the Coalition for Citizens with
20Disabilities of Illinois; and

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. was an alumnus of the Greater
2Springfield Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Springfield
3program; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. was preceded in death by his
5parents and a brother, Stan Hopwood; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ronald Hopwood, Sr. is survived by his wife,
7Doris; 3 children, Ronald Gene Hopwood, Jr., Anthony Scott
8(Kim) Hopwood, and Katherine Lynnette Hopwood; 3
9grandchildren, Jeremy Simmons, Jordan Hopwood, and Erika
10Hopwood; 6 siblings, John (Jan) Hopwood, Dorothy (Jim) Freeman,
11Linda Hawker, Nancy Hopwood, Mary (Bob) Christians, and Dee
12(Marion) Ring; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special
13friends, Jerry, Charlene, and Brandon Gibson; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Ronald E. Hopwood,
17Sr.; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Ronald Hopwood, Sr. as an expression
20of our sympathy.
