SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Derrick Booth, Jr. of Peoria, who passed
4away on May 24, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. was born on January 6, 1992 to
6Mecca Taylor and Derrick Booth, Sr.; he was a 2010 graduate of
7Manual Academy and attended Illinois Central College and the
8Job Corps, receiving a certification in culinary arts; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "DJ", Derrick Booth, Jr.
10had a love for all things culinary which grew out of his work
11with his grandmother, Yvonne, at Booth Rental Catering; he
12worked for Steak 'n Shake, Bob Evans, and most recently with
13the South Side Mission; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. was a member of St. Paul
15Baptist Church, where he served on the audio/visual and youth
16ministries; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. is survived by his father and
18stepmother, Derrick and State Representative Jehan Booth, Sr.;
19his mother and step-father, Mecca and Kevin Beasley, Sr.; 2
20brothers, Chancellor Booth and Jeremiah Taylor; 2 sisters,
21Kalia Beasley and Jianna Yvonne Booth; his grandparents, Rudy

1and Yvonne Booth, Edward and Geraldine Jackson, Jr., and
2Gilbert Taylor; and other family and friends; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Derrick Booth, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Derrick Booth, Jr. as an expression
10of our deepest sympathy.
