SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James I. McAndrews of Bull Valley, who
4passed away on March 15, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James McAndrews was born on September 6, 1919; his
6parents were Earl F. and Gladys (nee Kinney) McAndrews; he
7married Clara Trzebiatowski on May 7, 1949 at St. Adalbert
8Church in Rosholt, Wisconsin; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James McAndrews graduated with the McHenry High
10School class of 1937; after graduation, he worked for a time at
11a gas company in Chicago before being drafted into the United
12States Army in October of 1941; during World War II, he served
13as a Ranger with the 738th Field Artillery Battalion of
14Patton's Third Army and was awarded a Bronze Star; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Following his military service, James McAndrews
16attended barber school in Chicago; he worked as a barber for 60
17years from his barber shop on the west side of McHenry until
18his retirement at the age of 90; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James McAndrews was instrumental in obtaining the
20charter to begin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600 in McHenry,
21where he was a lifetime member; he was also a member of

1American Legion Post 491, Knights of Columbus Council 1288, and
2St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry, where he served as a
3lector, usher, and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine
4classes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James McAndrews was preceded in death by his
6parents and his brother, Joseph (the late Joanne) McAndrews;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, James McAndrews is survived by his wife of 64
9years, Clara; his children, Patrick (Mary Lou) McAndrews,
10Thomas (Patti) McAndrews, John (Sherry) McAndrews, Anthony
11(Krystyna Adamczak) McAndrews, and Colleen (Jon) Wing; his
12grandchildren, Michael McAndrews, Patrick McAndrews, Justin
13(Hilary) McAndrews, John McAndrews, Ellen Wing, Erin Wing,
14Kelsa McAndrews, and Julia McAndrews; his sister, Kathryn (the
15late Wilbur) Pape; his many nieces and nephews; and his special
16caregiver, Lori; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of James I. McAndrews;
20and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of James McAndrews as an expression of
