SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Lynn "Don" Niermeyer of
4Naperville, who passed away on December 24, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer was born on September 4, 1945 in
6Rochester, New York to Elmer and Meryl Niermeyer; he married
7Gail Egan on November 21, 1981; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer began his career at the Xerox
9Corporation in 1968 in New York City; he spent time working for
10Xerox in Florida before coming to Chicago in 1975 as branch
11manager of its Chicago office; he worked for Isoetec Executone
12in the early 1980's and then joined PageNet Midwest in 1994,
13serving as the Southern Regional President; in 2001, he joined
14his wife at the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage firm; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer was active in the Naperville
16community; he served as Treasurer of Community First, and was
17past-President and Vice-President of Cress Creek Country Club;
18he was a member of the DuPage Leadership Board of the American
19Cancer Society and was active in the "Relay for Life" campaign;
20he also served as co-chair of the Major Gifts Committee for the
21Edward Foundation; and

1    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer enjoyed wine, playing golf,
2attending sporting events, and was an avid fan of the Chicago
3Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Kansas basketball; he also
4enjoyed traveling around the United States and the world and
5made numerous trips to his favorite spot, St. Barthelemy; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer was preceded in death by his
7parents and by his brother, Gary Niermeyer; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Niermeyer is survived by his wife, Gail;
9his children, Brian (Catherine) Niermeyer, Gayle (Kalohi)
10Clark, Jessica (Matt) McHugh, and Reed (Nicole) Niermeyer; his
11sister, Diane Niermeyer; and many nieces and nephews;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Donald Lynn "Don" Niermeyer, and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Donald Niermeyer as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
