SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth of Harvard, who
4passed away on October 30, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was born on May 14, 1941 to Raymond H.
6and Ora E. (nee Graf) Kurth in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; he
7lived his early years in Kewanee, Wisconsin before settling in
8Harvard; he served his country in the United States Army from
91963 through 1965 in a civil engineering unit stationed in
10Vietnam; he married Judy L. Cutts on August 31, 1968 at Harvard
11Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lee Kurth worked as a carpenter his entire life;
13he worked for many years alongside his father, brother, Don,
14and many nephews in the family business, Kurth Construction
15Company Incorporated in Harvard; he later worked for Jude
16Schmidt Custom Construction Incorporated in Marengo, retiring
17in 2006; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and
19enjoyed giving his grandchildren tractor rides and playing
20games with them; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was preceded in death by his parents;

1his brother, Donald Kurth; his sister, Joanne Denessen; and his
2brothers-in-law, Lynn Berkovitz and Charles Miller; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lee Kurth is survived by his wife, Judy; his son,
4Gregory (Regina) Kurth; his daughter, Laura (Scot) Hay; his
5grandchildren, Anastasia Kurth and Colin and Erik Hay; his
6stepmother, Ruth Kurth; his sister, Nancy Miller; his
7sister-in-law, Sharon Kurth; and many nieces and nephews;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth, and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Lee Kurth as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
