SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ethel Gay Viau, who passed away on
4September 18, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ethel Viau was born on November 19, 1937 in
6Escanaba, Michigan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ethel Viau earned her Bachelor of Science from
8Northern Michigan University in 1978; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After graduation, Ethel Viau lived in Alexandria,
10Louisiana and began working as an art educator and a rape
11crisis center coordinator; in 1985, she moved to Waukegan and
12began working as a social worker for Catholic Charities and the
13Department of Children and Family Services; throughout her
14career, she made it her goal to provide children with the best
15living situation possible through her work and volunteer
16efforts; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ethel Viau enjoyed music and learned to play piano
18at a very young age; she also enjoyed fishing, camping, and
19walking nature trails; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ethel Viau was preceded in death by her parents,

1Steven Grenfell and Ila Ehrenberg (Grenfell); her brother,
2Harry Schmidt; and her grandchild, Karl Norberg, Jr.; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ethel Viau is survived by her children, Deborah
4(David) Dayton, Steven (Vicki) Viau, Nancy (Karl) Norberg,
5Donald (Jean) Viau, and Robert (Catherine) Viau; her 10
6grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren, and her precious
7cat, Milo; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Ethel Gay Viau; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ethel Viau as an expression of our
14sympathy.
