SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Timothy Paul Palermo of Wood River, who
4passed away on May 18, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo was born on October 9, 1951, in
6Alton; his parents were Paul J. and Marjorie Palermo; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo served the citizens of Wood River
8for more than 30 years; he began as a laborer on the street
9department before moving on to the water department; he
10subsequently served as Director of Public Works before his
11retirement in 2003; he also served as a member of Labor Local
12No. 338 for 12 years, serving as the union's shop steward; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Timothy Palermo was an
14active volunteer for several local organizations, with a real
15passion for The Catholic Charities; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo was honored by the American Public
17Works Association-District 8 Branch Chapter as "Public Works
18Leader of the Year" in 2003; in 1985, he was selected to be a
19member of the Outstanding Young Men of America; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo was a member of Holy Angels Parish

1Church and a member of Wood River Moose Lodge No. 1349; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo was preceded in death by his
3grandson, Hunter Paul Thomeczek; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Timothy Palermo is survived by his parents; his
5son, Tyler Palermo; his daughter, Trisha Palermo (Nicholas
6Thomeczek); his fiancee, Stacy McNamara, and her daughters,
7MacKenzie and Morgan; and his sisters, Missy (Denny) Barnard
8and Tina (Tom) Davis; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Timothy Paul Palermo;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Timothy Palermo as an expression of
15our sympathy.
