HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The first Red Apple Restaurant opened at 3121
3North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago's Polish Village in Avondale
4on Polish Constitution Day, May 3, 1989; and
 
5    WHEREAS, One year later, the Red Apple Restaurant opened a
6second location in Norwood Park at 6474 North Milwaukee Avenue;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Having become a noted local culinary landmark of
9Chicago that has excelled in the tradition of crafting
10traditional Polish foods, the Red Apple Restaurant has lured
11guests from all over the United States and beyond to taste
12their wholesome fare; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Red Apple Restaurant has helped nourish the
14cultural renaissance in Avondale, Chicago's Polish Village,
15Kosciuszko Park, Logan Square, Gladstone Park, and Norwood Park
16by sponsoring numerous community and artistic gatherings and
17events, such as the I Love Jackowo Festival, A Day in Avondale
18Art Walk, the Saint Hyacinth Carnival, and countless other
19projects; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Having offered their establishment as a venue for
21numerous community meetings and assemblies, the Red Apple

1Restaurant has continually highlighted their commitment to be a
2setting where neighbors can come and break bread together; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Red Apple Restaurant has established a long
4held tradition of providing diners with gourmet dishes in a
5wide variety of cuisines from around the world, with both
6contemporary and traditional authentic Polish dishes that
7characterize the many styles of Polish cuisine; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the owners of the Red Apple Restaurant on the
12occasion of the restaurant's 25th anniversary and honor them
13for their achievements in becoming a culinary landmark of the
14City of Chicago and for their commitment to working on behalf
15of improving the diverse communities in Avondale and Chicago's
16Polish Village; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the Red Apple Restaurant as a symbol of our
19respect and esteem.
