HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Rett syndrome is a unique postnatal neurological
3disorder that is first recognized in infancy and seen almost
4always in girls, but can be seen in boys; it strikes all racial
5and ethnic groups, and occurs worldwide in one of every 10,000
6to 23,000 female births; it causes problems in brain functions
7that are responsible for cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor
8and autonomic function; these can include learning, speech,
9sensory sensations, mood, movement, breathing, cardiac
10function, and even chewing, swallowing, and digestion; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Girl Power 2 Cure, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit
12organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for
13treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome and is committed to
14making Rett Syndrome the first reversible neurological
15disorder by harnessing the spirit of girls to support fellow
16girls who are suffering; the organization supports girls in the
17planning and implementation of events that raise awareness and
18funds for Rett Syndrome research, as well as support Rett
19families with resources, fundraising help, and awareness
20tools; its inspiration is its flower: "always in bloom with
21hope and positive energy, ready to grow anywhere there is
22someone ready to join in our mission"; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Girl Power 2 Cure, Inc. will hold a fundraiser for

2"Strike Out Rett Syndrome; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we designate June 21, 2014 as "Strike Out Rett Syndrome Day" in
6the State of Illinois and; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Girl Power 2 Cure, Inc. as an expression of our
9esteem and respect.
