HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Timoteo "Tim" Vasquez of
4Hanover Park for his service to his country during World War
5II; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Timoteo Vasquez served as a United States Marine
7in Guadalcanal from 1942-1945; he trained as an aircraft
8mechanic and maintained the F4 Wildcat Fighter; he was attached
9to the VMF-112 Wolfpack Squadron; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Timoteo Vasquez and his fellow Marines fought at
11Guadalcanal in the Southern Solomon Islands with the objective
12of denying its use by the Japanese to threaten the supply and
13communication routes between the United States, Australia, and
14New Zealand; and
 
15    WHEREAS, After Guadalcanal, Timoteo Vasquez spent time in
16the Philippines, Guam, and Okinawa; he was honorably discharged
17in November of 1945 and he settled in the Tri-Village area; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Timoteo Vasquez married Isabel, who has since
19passed, on September 24, 1948 in Manila, Philippines and they
20had 5 children, Tim Vasquez, Veronica Bargehr, Regina Heaney,
21Rene Vasquez, and the late Maria; he worked for 27 years for

1the Sara Lee Corporation; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Timoteo Vasquez traveled to Washington, D.C. in
3July of 2009 as part of the Honor Flight where World War II
4veterans visit their memorial; he was later honored by the
5Village of Hanover Park for his contributions when he received
6Honor Roll recognition and a brick to be placed within the
7Veteran's Memorial; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we honor Timoteo "Tim" Vasquez for his service to his country
11during World War II; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Timoteo Vasquez as an expression of our esteem and
14respect.
