HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of David D.
4Hicks, who passed away on April 23, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Hicks was born on July 6, 1960, to Reverend
6Thomas Sr. and Elrean Hicks; he did his early education in
7Robbins and went to Eisenhower High School in Blue Island; and
 
8    WHEREAS, David Hicks became a Robbins Fire Department Cadet
9and was honored with over 30 years of service; he enjoyed the
10outdoors and cut many lawns in Robbins, Blue Island, Crestwood,
11Hazel Crest, and Sauk Village; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Hicks was baptized at an early age at New
13Light M.B. Church under the leadership of his father, later
14united with First Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under the
15leadership of his brother, Reverend Clarence Hicks Sr.; and
 
16    WHEREAS, David Hicks was fascinated with politics; he ran
17several times for Robbins Park District Commissioner; he helped
18on many campaigns including those for Mayor Irene H. Brodie,
19Richard Ballantine Sr., John Hamilton Sr., Robert Rita, Will
20Davis, Debra Sims, and Emil Jones Sr.; and

1    WHEREAS, David Hicks was preceded in death by his parents
2and his siblings, Robert Lee Hicks Sr., Elvira Hicks-Gosa, and
3Marvin Hicks; and
 
4    WHEREAS, David Hicks is survived by his siblings, Thomasean
5Sanders, Thomas (Frankie Laverne), Dorothy Robinson (Oscar),
6Beola Murphy, Clarence (Laverne), (Katherine) Willie, Mitchell
7(Kandy) Jesse, George, Alfred (Georgelyn), and Cleodies
8(Pamela); his aunts, Stella Harris and Annabelle Weaver; Calvin
9and Carol (Peaches); his cousin, Willie Hicks; and a host of
10nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of David Hicks, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of David Hicks as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
