HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Megan Ervin, Miss Illinois
42012, as she tours the State speaking at schools about
5CHARACTER COUNTS!, appearing at a variety of community and
6charitable events, and serving as the Illinois Goodwill
7Ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network, the official
8platform of the Miss America organization; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Through her State platform, "The Heptathlon of
10Healthy Habits", Megan Ervin introduces students and adults
11alike to the idea of a holistic approach to health, encouraging
12a healthy mind, body, and spirit through the use of 7 core
13components within the "Heptathlon"; these 7 components include
14fitness & physical activity, nutrition, community service,
15reading & education, spirituality, recycling, and avoiding
16distracted driving; the program emphasises that true change
17takes more than a temporary adjustment but requires a permanent
18lifestyle change; and
 
19    WHEREAS, As Miss Illinois 2012, Megan Ervin competed with
2052 other title holders from across the country for the title of
21Miss America at the 2013 Miss America Pageant in January at the
22Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

1    WHEREAS, Megan Ervin was crowned Miss Illinois on June 30,
22012, at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center in Marion; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Megan Ervin received her bachelor's of science in
4exercise science with a dance minor from Western Illinois
5University and plans to obtain a masters in exercise
6physiology; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we honor Megan Ervin, Miss Illinois 2012, for all that she has
10contributed to the well-being of the State, thank her for her
11service, and wish her well in all her future endeavours; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Megan Ervin as an expression of our esteem and
15respect.
