    Amends the School Code. Requires each school board to adopt a rule regarding the sending of sexually explicit text or images by students through the use of a computer, cellular phone, or other portable electronic device. Provides that any student discipline policy furnished to parents, guardians, or students must include this rule and any penalty for violating this rule and must also specify if there are any local, State, or federal laws or penalties concerning the sending of sexually explicit images or text through the use of a computer, cellular phone, or other portable electronic device. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.56 and 34-18.49 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.56 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.56. Sexting rules. Each school board shall adopt
8a rule regarding the sending of sexually explicit text or
9images by students through the use of a computer, cellular
10phone, or other portable electronic device. Any student
11discipline policy furnished to parents, guardians, or students
12must include this rule and any penalty for violating this rule
13and must also specify if there are any local, State, or federal
14laws or penalties concerning the sending of sexually explicit
15images or text through the use of a computer, cellular phone,
16or other portable electronic device.
